So there must be compatible mods out there. But i have seen a few lowered ones getting about with aftermarket exhausts, and a few turbo'd ones for sale too. I've always had it serviced on time, and tried to keep pretty good care of it, which probably helps the reliability - but overall its been a really enjoyable car for the last 6 years. In terms of reliability: Mine has never let me down (160000 Km), both me and a friend of mine with the same car had the fuel pump (could have been water pump - it was a while ago) replaced during the 100K service as preventative maintenance. I personally like it, but i know others (mainly coming from audis) who think its awful. I find the steering has a lot of feedback, and not just in a 'good feel the road' kind of way - it can be a little unrefined on occasion. and it does feel a little lacking stepping out of those cars back into mine. But it obviously can't compare to more serious sporty offering from bmw, porsche, Megane cup trophy, gt86 etc. And even after years it still buts a smile on my face going up a windy road or going around an empty round-about a little to fast. I think its enjoyable to take round corners. Not sure if that the version you are looking at or not, or if its in your budget. Not a lot of torque but has enough go above 4000rpm to keep things fun when you want it to be.įor me, the main draws come from it being the 'sports' version, ![]() Not sure if you already know but the ford laser of the same period is the same car under the skin.
